Wherever My Feet May Take Me...

I don’t know why but it just seems so incredibly easy to take photos of your feet. It’s almost like a default when there’s nothing else to take photos of. And luckily, some neat shots can come out of it!

Your feet take you places. They touch the ground first and lead you…wherever they lead you. I don’t really know why there is an attraction to turn that camera towards the ground and snap your feet in an image. Perhaps it’s the cool perspective? Or maybe it makes your legs look skinnier? Whatever the reason is, I find that a good portion of my photographs (and I’m sure yours too!) consist of feet.

One of my favourites that I’ve taken is this one at the Toronto Blue Jays baseball game back in the summer of 2011. To me, this is the epitome of what the summer should be like: sunshine, feet up and a good ol’ ball game.

I guess it really comes down to what’s happening around your feet that gives the photograph depth. Whether it be sandy beaches, wandering animals or bowling balls, it tells a story in itself – from the ground up. Some may think it’s a waste to go around taking photos of your feet, but I dare you, give it a try!
