On the morning before my Davao-Manila flight, I roamed around Tagum to do some lomography. One of the places I visited was the neatly organized La Filipina public cemetery where graves are alphabetically arranged. The following day, upon my return home, I went with lomofriends for an itinerary-less lomowalk. Our feet took us to different places in Manila. We happened to pass by Lawton where the Coke company was offering free coke to the public in observance of the holiday. Took shots near the fountain where some street kids were also enjoying their gulp of ice-cold cola.
As the weeks went by, my love for her became an obsession, as is the nature of unrequited love. I spent every penny I had on her, trying to delay the inevitable. I had always naively believed that money couldn’t buy love and it hurt me to admit that, had I been richer she would stay with me longer. But there would come a time when even money couldn’t buy her, like a flame that burned too bright she couldn’t last. So I became an amateur meteorologist, studying the horizon like an anxious parent watching their child take their first, faltering steps, looking for cloud formations and changes in the wind, trying desperately to make the most of our time together. But the happiness I felt in her presence was now tinged with sadness as I could feel her slipping away.
This is one on my favorite photos. This was the first slide film I've ever tried. I almost pressed the shooter of my Lc-a+ when I heard something on my back. I waited and suddenly a man riding a horse passed in front of me. This photo was 1000 times better than the first one I almost took.
