Hi I'm Alan Raw a Lomo-Amigo.
I'm the former Curator/Manager of Lomography Embassy Hull. I now mainly spend my time writing speculative fiction as a published author. I do still create artistic photography projects and shoot film for my blog on Substack. I was also Curator of PhotoCity London & I', still Curator of The HIP Gallery, and Hull International Photography Festival (HIPfest). I've been a WEA Photography Tutor and Fujiholics Trainer, and I have lots of lovely retro cameras inc: Smena 8M, LC-A, Diana F+, Lubitel 166 & Fisheye and I use them for fun and to teach photography sometimes. Working in Lomography Embassy Hull was a dream come true, surrounded every day by all the coolest cameras and enthusiastic people. I curated over 100 exhibitions of fabulous analogue work. Unfortunately, we had to close during the COVID-19 lockdown.
I also have a collection of professional cameras, as I was a BBC Presenter & on-stage photographer for BBC Music, shooting at Leeds Festival, Radio1's Big Weekend etc for 21 years, before I retired to focus on my writing. I previously produced & location managed for MTV, BBCi & BBC2 and taught Camera Skills for BBC Learn Xpress. So photography has been a big part of my life. I've been a Youth & Community Arts Facilitator since 1992 and CEO of The Creative & Cultural Organisation, which is a social enterprise supporting young creatives to exhibit their work.
