   I think this experiment has to be made with a real Fluorescent tube, and not with a Compact Fluorescent one. The one you're using has a built-in electronics, and the tube is not directly connected to the metal leads. A real fluorescent tube will glow when the high voltage discharges through it:

   @adash Thank you, I'm a real fan of tesla and I know that it needs a real fluorescent tube, It wasn't my experiment (:
