The cathedral of Rouen may not be the most beautiful of the gothic era (think about Chartres, Paris, Amiens, Canterbury...) but for me, it is surely the most impressive. On the ground, it's heavy architecture looks like a fortress, but when you look up, you still have the impression that it reaches the sky... And as it is hidden in the middle of a maze of alleys, you only discover its majesty at the very last moment. Magic...
