   @steamtug1959 Yes, I see it now. The only pictures I have seen of him, had him wearing a large furry military hat.

   the last hussar, ... the fur hat was part of the uniform for big parades. Many photos (especially the landscape photos) are postcards that the soldiers were able to buy. Each postcard was then checked by the superiors (censorship) before being sent home (nothing military or negative could be written, in Germany nobody should know how bad the war really is ...).
