   @systemdevice I know. It was at least 10 years ago, and I was rendered speechless by Tuol Sleng. I had decided that I personally would not be going to see the Killing Fields as I didn't want to be a dark tourist but we were convinced by a gentle tuk-tuk driver to see Tuol Sleng, where he'd wait for us outside and then take us to our original destination. All sound ceased as we crossed the threshold and didn't start again until we stumbled, shocked, back to the tuk-tuk. I'm eternally grateful that he persuaded us to go, and understand more fully what happened to those individuals and the country. I think it It was the faces staring from the wall of photographs that really stunned me. There was mixture of fear, resignation, despair and defiance, and I couldn't help but wonder how I would have been in their situation, though I had the nagging certainly that I would not have been as brave as some were.

   @sandersoftheriver I understand you perfectly. I have the same feelings whenever I visit such a place.
   Unfortunately, humanity is mostly evolving in this way, by making terrible mistakes...
