Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Panorama

This is the original location of Muscle Shoals Sound Studio at 3614 Jackson Highway in Sheffield, Alabama. This studio was formed by musicians (The Swampers) who left Rick Hall's FAME Studio in Muscle Shoals. The story of this is told in the excellent 2013 documentary Muscle Shoals.

This studio had one big connection with analog photography. The Paul Simon hit song Kodachrome was recorded at this studio. Many artists recorded many hits in this small studio.

This studio is scheduled to be renovated and modernized so that it can again be used as a studio for education and recording. These panoramas show the studio as it was during the Seventies when it turned out hit after hit.

Several keyboards are set up in front of the control booth.

    They recorded an album of material at this studio before their first released album. It was not released until years later. A friend was there when they recorded Freebird.

    I highly recommend the Muscle Shoals documentary.
