April 27, 2011 Tornado Anniversary - Destroyed Home

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day in 2014 was on the 3rd anniversary of the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak. Years later the damage is still visible from the passing of an F5 tornado, the largest tornado at the top of the rating scale. I witnessed the passing of this monster.

As I started to take the photos rain started sprinkling. Before long I was wet taking these photos. I had planned to have the film processed the next day, but weather stepped in again. Severe weather struck again that day, with a tornado destroying homes and killing people on the other side of the county.

Many homes were destroyed in this storm, and quite a few have not been rebuilt. Even as neighborhoods return to life an empty driveway leading to a concrete slab where a home once stood serves as a silent reminder.
