    Nice album!! The back focus for Nikon is longer than it is for M42. An M42 to Nikon adapter needs a corrector lens in it. Find them on eBay... www.ebay.com/itm/M42-Lens-to-NIKON-Mount-Adapter-w-Infinity… Slighty expensive.

    @herbert-4 Thank you, herbert.
    Although I, for myself, was a little bit disappointed. Can't lie about that.
    The adapter, that I bought, has such a lens in it, to correct focus to infinity, and it looks exactly like the adapter in your link :-)
    The problem is, I think, the adapter had no possibility to press the aparture pin. There is too much space to screw the Lens and the aparture pin doesn't get triggered. I tried, to fix it by stuffing something in between, but failed.
    So the only way to shoot was with wide aparture, but the Helios lens is quite fast (f:2) and it was very bright. Fortunately, my Nikon has shutter speeds up to 1/8000 and they were needed. Some situations were even measured over-exposed. The combination of extremely short exposure to light and wide aparture might be the problem. I am not so familiar with aberration and stuff :-)
    The other possibility is, that the corrector lens is just crap quality.
    Or maybe the correction lens bothered the focus meter in the camera, but pre image in the viewfinder was sharp to me, so I don't know :-)
    Some of the photos got a really dreamy and soft look, which I like (for example, that with my dog), but the unique bokeh of the Helios lens went kind of away and some pictures are just blurred badly.

    Nikon F90X, is it autofocus? Also, does your Helios lack a "M A" slider like were on M42 Zeiss, Pentax, Vivitar, etc. lenses? My Zenitar 16 mm lacks the manual diaphragm slider. Could you tape down the aperture pin with a dot of Scotch Tape? M42 cameras close diaphragm when mirror lifts or meter switch pushed on. "M" setting on lens allowed for manual diaphragm and "A" automatic. Also, does your Nikon have a ground glass image or aerial image in viewfinder. Aerial image is brighter but harder to focus. I have a M42 Vivitar 220/sl that cost almost nothing, is supposedly complete steaming feces, but continues to work perfectly for decades.

    @herbert-4 yes, unfortunately my Helios lack that "M A" slider. Older versions of the lens had it, but not mine. I also tried duct tape with my fix attempt, but the pin was too forceful. I have to try it another time, maybe with a precise sawn piece of wood, got to ask my father for help :-)
    Yes, the Nikon F90X has autofocus and a really good and quick one, too. Before the introduction of the Nikon F5 in year '96, it was the Nikon with the fastest autofocus. Works even with modern AF-S nikkor lenses with silentwave motors. Dynamic autofocus tracking up to 4 pictures per second, so that's not the deal. Of course, I could not use the autofocus, but I took the autofocus metering of the camera for help (it works even with manual focus lenses) and my razor-sharp eyes :-)
    Yes, it has a ground glass image for the view finder, but without this micro prisma focus helping thing, like my Zenit, for example, I don't know the name in english :-)
    I still blame the adapter and the impossibility to scale the aparture :-)
    Thanks fot the tip with the Vivitar Camera, I'm gonna take a look. My Zenit ET is broken anyway :-(

    Here's an example of Vivitar 220/sl... www.ebay.com/itm/Vivitar-35mm-SLR-Film-Camera-220-SL-w-Lens… or a Vivitar 250/sl (very slightly better)... www.ebay.com/itm/Vivitar-250-SL-SLR-35mm-Camera-1-8-50mm-Le… These are not copies of Pentax, but are copies of Practica, made by Cosina of thick metal, have Copal metal blade shutter. Lenses, 50 mm f/2.8 is as good as Industar 22, 50mm f/1.8 is like your Helios. Average 1970 Japanese build quality, tend to work forever. Not very fast to use without practice. Camera critics pronounced them steaming piles in the 1970's. Were sold under a lot of names, Porst, Cosina (rare), Sears, Vivitar, Topcon (rare), many etc.

    @herbert-4 Can't find both Vivitar Cameras on german ebay.
    Which Praktica Camera did they copy? And what are the Porst names of it? Praktica and Porst have better offering on german ebay

    Try "Porst Compact Reflex" like here... www.ebay.com/itm/PORST-compact-reflex-OE-Color-Reflex-NC-Au… Similar Practica... www.ebay.de/itm/PRAKTICA-MTL-5-Pentacon-auto-1-8-50-MC-Tasc… These are closer to your home.

    @herbert-4 Thank you for the hint. I discovered the Prakitca MTL 5 and the MTL 3 on my own yesterday. Both look great, the MTL 3 has the nicer looking body, in my opinion. But both are on my watchlist :-)
