Locomotive in the Roundhouse
This bulb exposure shows a diesel electric locomotive in the roundhouse at Tuscumbia, Alabama. This roundhouse (and a turntable) were built where the Memphis and Charleston Railroad once had a locomotive shop next to the depot. The original passenger station still stands, now home to a museum. The trains no longer pass the depot. The Southern Railway removed the tracks after building a new line that bypassed downtown Tuscumbia. The Memphis and Charleston Railroad operated the line during the U.S. Civil War. Before the M&C the railroad here was part of the Tuscumbia, Courtland and Decatur Railroad.
