Algeria in Lomo

Algeria has always been a pinball between the empires of Europe and Africa. The powers changed every once in a while and left traces of their rule in form of bricks. The Spanish also had their share of the Algerian Soil. In Oran, a big Harbour-City, this legacy is represented by a Spanish quarter and the fort of Santa Cruz, which is situated just outside the city on the Djebel Murtjadjo, the wooded hill that dominates the skyline of Oran. At site of the fort you have the church of Santa Cruz and one spectacular view on the town and the port of Oran. The assembly was built in the late 16th century and once in a while renovated and enhanced. The church was erected in 1849 to commemorate a cholera outbreak and there are festivities every Eastern on this location. To get there from the city you will need a car or Taxi - but the view is surely worth it. basicly every Oranian is talking about Santa Cruz and you only have been there, if you have checked it out.
