Old Highway 72 / Lee Highway - Margerum, Alabama

At one time U.S. 72 (or the Lee Highway) in Northwest, Alabama was a two lane road that between Tuscumbia, Alabama and the Mississippi state line followed the Southern Railway. Decades ago a newer four lane highway was built, but most of the old road is still intact in this area for local traffic. This old bridge, however, is not structurally sound and has been closed to automobile traffic. It's in an isolated rural location and the vegetation is slowly taking over. 114 mm Belairgon lens
